ToolNest started from a simple annoyance: needing to convert one image or PDF, and ending up on a website that made you wait through an ad-choked upload screen, sign up for an account, or install a desktop app just to do something that should take ten seconds.
So this site does the opposite. Every tool on ToolNest runs entirely inside your browser, using JavaScript. When you drop a file into one of our converters, it never leaves your device — there is no upload, no server-side processing, and no waiting in a queue behind other people’s files. Your browser does the work, and the result comes straight back to you as a download.
What you’ll find here
ToolNest is a collection of 40 free tools covering the conversions and small utilities people actually search for day to day: image format converters (PNG, JPG, WebP, HEIC, SVG), PDF tools (merging, splitting, compressing, converting to and from other formats), audio and video conversion (MP3, WAV, MP4, GIF), data file tools (CSV, JSON, Excel, XML), and a handful of standalone generators like a QR code maker and a password generator.
Every tool has its own page with a short explanation of what it does, an interactive widget you can use right there, a quick reference table for the exact steps, and a longer article going into the details — the file formats involved, common use cases, and the honest limitations of what a browser-based tool can and can’t do.
Why local processing matters
Beyond the convenience, running everything client-side is genuinely better for privacy. If you’re converting a scanned contract, a personal photo, or a spreadsheet with sensitive numbers in it, that file is never transmitted anywhere. It’s processed in memory in your own browser tab and discarded when you close the page. We simply never see it.
Who built this
ToolNest is an independent site, not part of a larger software company. It’s maintained by people who got tired of the current state of “free online converter” websites — the ones stuffed with pop-up ads, fake download buttons, and file size limits designed to push you toward a paid plan. We wanted something faster and more straightforward, and we think it’s useful enough to share.
The site is supported by advertising, which is what keeps every tool free to use with no account and no per-conversion limits. If you find a tool useful, the best way to support the site is simply to use it again next time you need it — or tell a colleague who’s stuck fighting with a stubborn file format.
Feedback
If a tool doesn’t work the way you expected, produces an odd result, or you think we’re missing an obviously useful conversion, we’d genuinely like to hear about it. You can reach us through the contact page.
